Introducing Keeping Tabs

by Tabitha Kidwell

Hello and welcome to Keeping Tabs!  My name is Tabitha Kidwell, and I’m moving to Indonesia in 2 weeks!.  I’d like to start by introducing myself to the .01% of readers who don’t already know me.  For the rest, I’ll add pictures to keep it interesting.

I’m from Columbus, Ohio, and I love the Ohio State Buckeyes no matter how many autographs they trade for tattoos.

In fact, I just got my master’s degree in Foreign and Second Language Education from The Ohio State University.  For the past four years, I have taught French and Spanish to seventh and eighth graders at Kilbourne Middle School in Worthington, Ohio.

During that time, I have lived with my sister Katie…

…and her cat, Eddie George.

We lived at 222 W 2nd Ave, an address that I loved because it seemed lucky.

Before living in Columbus, I lived abroad for three years.  I was in the Peace Corps in Madagascar, where I taught English to kids  at the middle and high school…

…and to adults in the community.

I also helped establish an English Cultural Center…

…and took lots of beach vacations.

After the peace corps, I lived in France for a year, where I taught elementary school English…

…and took lots of beach vacations.

Then, I moved home to Columbus, Ohio, got a real job, and intended to settle down… but I kept thinking about living abroad again.  I tried to quiet that urge by taking summer trips to the Dominican Republic…

…and Peru…

…and France…

but I kept thinking about going abroad… so I’m going to Salatiga, Indonesia with the English Language Fellow program for the 2011-2012 academic year!

I’ll be teaching English to students at the State Islamic University who want to be English teachers, and doing numerous side projects to promote English language learning, and hopefully taking lots of beach vacations!

Besides traveling, I also enjoy running…

…and wearing funny hats….

…sometimes at the same time.

I aspire to go on Jeopardy one day, and go to pub trivia every Tuesday to practice.

I like fancy cheese…

…and craft beer.

I love Hall & Oates…

…and can’t wait until they are featured on Glee!

I like to dress up as smurfette for Halloween (and once, on the 4th of July).

Keep reading, and you will discover many more fascinating facts about me!

  1. Wow!!! Though I don’t know you so much, because I keep talking and you keep running 🙂 but I do know a bit now, and already knew your fascination for hats, I have a photo from 2009 cap city half that I took because you were wearing this colorful balloon hat… I guess it’s still on FB.

Wish you all the best for your trip to Indonesia
